Many of us worry about past events and fear the uncertainty of the future. By doing this, we are missing the present moment.
Whenever I catch myself worrying about a past event or what the future holds, I acknowledge my thoughts and make a conscious choice to return to the activity at hand in the present moment. Mindfulness is not to never have these thoughts but to catch ourselves having them and to acknowledge them without judgement then make a conscious choice to bring our awareness back to the present. I want to acknowledge that this is not as easy as it sounds but with practice it can be done. The more we practice the better we get at it. Just like a muscle, the more we train the muscle the stronger it gets.
