Anxiety

Anxiety is an emotion many of us are very familiar with.

We feel anxious about past events or about what the future holds for us.

Anxiety is an emotion we often try to avoid but what might our anxiety be trying to tell us about ourselves?

When I feel anxious about an encounter I had with someone yesterday, I am anxious about the impression or impact I might have had on the other person through my words or behaviours. When I feel anxious about a bill that is due in 2 weeks, I am fearing the possibility of not meeting my responsibilities or an inability to maintain my living standards.

Why do I care so much? Is it my values? Is it the "shoulds" I ingested from my environment?

There is much to learn about myself from my anxiety.

Having increased self-awareness can help us make informed choices and better cope with our emotions.
